Making a family tree together

Making a family tree together

Now that your child knows their family members are out, it's a perfect time to discover more experiences together while learning how all these people are connected. The best way to do this is with the help of a family tree, which you will build with your child, filling its branches with photos of your loved ones and then decorating it together!

Planting the seeds

It's easy to make your own family tree! You can simply draw it with your child, or print a draft already prepared on an A4 sheet of paper or cardboard and then cut the outline. The real fun begins when you start looking for photos for every member of the family! This is a wonderful opportunity to remind your child who their grandparents, uncles and aunts are, and how much fun you have all had in the past.

The tree is growing

Once you have found the right photos, place them on the tree branches in the right order. As you glue the pictures, explain to your child what their kinship with these persons is. For example, when you snap your mother's photo, say, "this is your grandmother. She's mom's mom! Mom and grandma are like you and me."

The tree is becoming beautiful

You can also decorate the tree by adding colors, glitter or cheerful stickers! Let your toddler have fun with the ornament and thus encourage his creativity. When it's done, show the tree they made to the whole family!

And don't forget to take pictures of the tree for us to see!

By making a family tree, your child will learn more about each family member. They will understand that besides mom and dad, there are other people who love and care about them. This knowledge plays a very important role in establishing your child's emotional bonds with other family members.
